I always get impressed when I hear that somebody has made something in a crock pot or slow cooker.


'Crockpot or slow cooker made' seems to imply that someone went the extra step beyond what the others do in making something.

What I have found is that 'slow cooked' often means the easier way to making something. When I make something in my slow cooker, I usually am doing it to get something ready in advance when I know I will be cramped for time later on. Before heading to yoga class on a Saturday afternoon, I will dump my chili ingredients into my slow cooker and set it to cook. When I get home, my chili is ready to enjoy.

Is it crockpot, crock-pot or crock pot? It seems as if we see the word spelled each way. Crock-pot is actually a brand name for a kind of slow cooker. In America, we tend to use all of the words interchangeable. Technically, if you are using a slow cooker called a crock-pot then you are obviously using a crock-pot.

What makes something a 'slider'?

We know 'sliders' as those tiny burgers, or whatever' on a smaller than normal bun. My father use to love those famous 'slider' burgers. They are big in Jersey.

I love that barbecued pulled chicken is so easy to make


This could be one of the best re-uses of yesterday's chicken dinner. All you need to do is shred the cold chicken with your hands and add your ingredients. Last night's dinner can suddenly become something new and tasty.


This recipe calls for barbecue sauce.
You can easily cheat by using a bottled sauce.

Make your own barbecue sauce by combining the following ingredients in your blender:


  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 5 tablespoons light brown sugar
  • 5 tablespoons sugar
  • 1/2 tablespoon fresh ground black pepper
  • 1/2 tablespoon onion powder
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1/2 tablespoon ground mustard
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • Optional- hot sauce to taste
  • Optional- honey 1 tablespoon

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 - 2 pounds shredded Skinless chicken already cooked
  • 1 1/2 cups- can use homemade Barbecue Sauce
  • 1 medium chopped Onion
  • 1/4 cup Optional- Brown sugar or molasses
  • as desired Optional- Hot Sauce
Instructions
Place your ingredients into your slow cooker and mix well. Using your hands is a good way to make sure that the chicken is well-shredded and every thing is well mixed together.Cover and cook, stirring occasionally, on low for 6 hours or until done or high for up to 4 hours or until done. Some times I will start on low and then up the temp to high when I get closer to serving this.Serve on small buns for a 'slider'. You can also enjoy this in a wrap or even with no bread.
