'Copycat' Orange Chicken Recipe

My daughter loves orange chicken.

She especially loves that 'mall' variety orange chicken. You know, the Panda Express kind of orange chicken.
But, getting on over to the mall just for some chicken can be a pain. So, we learned how to make it ourselves.

'Copycat' Orange Chicken Recipe

'Copycat' Orange Chicken

I've making this recipe really simple by using chicken nuggets. You can use cut up chicken pieces but, using nuggets can save you a lot of time. Saving time is nice when you have a hankering for something specific such as orange chicken, if you ask me.

I am also baking this rather than using a skillet method.

Baking just makes this easier for me.

I'm using a
large glass baking dish.

I love that this recipe is really easy to make.

Using chicken nuggets really cuts down the prep time. I will sometimes prepare this in advance and just set the timer.

Here is the recipe

'Copycat' Orange Chicken
This is that orange chicken that tastes just like the stuff from the mall.
  • 1 25 ounce bag Chicken Nuggets
  • 2 tablespoons Soy Sauce
  • 1/4 cup Ketchup
  • 1/4 cup Honey
  • 1/4 cup Orange Juice
  • 1/3 cup Vinegar- White
  • 1/2 tsp Ground Ginger
  • 1 Cup Water
  • Finely chopped Almonds
Preheat your oven to the designated temperature that is stated on the package of chicken nuggets if the nuggets have not been cooked. Spray a bit of nonstick in your glass baking dish. Bake your nuggets in the dish as directed in the instructions. You can use a microwave method if indicated. In a medium sauce pan, combine your remaining ingredients--EXCEPT for the ALMONDS-- one at a time and bring to a boil stirring as needed. Allow this to simmer as your nuggets bake. When your nuggets have cooked, drizzle sauce over them flipping them as needed to ensure that they are completely covered with sauce.Sprinkle your chopped almonds over the chicken and bake for 20-22 minutes on 400.
