How to Prepare a Butternut Squash

I can easily get excited about all of the squash varieties popping up at the grocery store right now.

It's another reminder that we are heading into the holiday season, including Thanksgiving.

Butternut Squash is probably the easiest of the current squashes to work with.

That is because it is easier to slice, dice, and has a skin that can be included in most recipes. Butternut Squash is the squash that seems to be most popular in recipes this time of the year. I use it in soups, stews, and so much more.

How to Prepare a Butternut Squash

Perhaps the easiest way to enjoy a butternut squash is to dice it up and bake it.

2. Slice off the ends.

 3. Slice lengthwise in half before or after peeling. I peel after as it is easier for me to handle.. Use a peeler to remove the skin- you can keep the skin on as well.

4.Scoop out the seeds. You can roast them and enjoy them. I save mine to plant in my garden.

  2. I usually just cut in half, take out seeds, lay cut side facing down, rub oil and salt on skin then bake. It's how I make my butternut squash soup! Will have to try it this way and see how I like it! Thanks for sharing!
