Easy to Make, Turkey Meatloaf

The other day when I was at the grocery store I noticed the stock person putting out some fresh ground turkey.

This got me thinking that I could not remember the last time that I made a meatloaf using ground turkey.

This is the time of the year that I know my family is thinking about comfort foods.
Meatloaf made with ground turkey is a favorite comfort food around here.

First off, I got this nifty new meatloaf pan that lifts the loaf easily out of the pan.

This is like a dream come true if you are like me and hate having to dig a meatloaf out when it gets stuck to the sides of the pan.

Easy to Make, Turkey Meatloaf
This is the time of the year that I know my family is thinking about comfort foods.

Ingredients
  • 1 1/2 lbs Ground Turkey
  • 1/2 cup Rolled Oats
  • 1 Egg
  • 1 small can Tomato Paste
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/4 cup Optional items- sauteed chopped onion
  • 2 cloved Optional- sauteed Garlic chopped
  • 2/3 cup Subs- ketchup for tomato paste
  • 1.2 cup Subs- breadcrumbs for oats
  • as needed Additional tomato paste or ketchup for topping
  • as needed salt/pepper and other seasonings to taste
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350 and prep your pan for nonstick. If you are using sauteed garlic and/or onions, make sure that these are ready to go.In a large bowl, combine your turkey, oats, egg, tomato paste and Worcestershire sauce. Slightly mix this together and then add any seasonings or sauteed items and continue to mix. Tip- use your hands to mix to get the best results.Press your mixture into a loaf or meatloaf pan. I like to form a ridge down the center to form a kind of 'river' of ingredients as they bake, which can add to the taste.Cover with any additional paste or ketchup.Bake for 55-60 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 165. Allow to stand for a few minutes before removing from pan.Tip- if you are using a pull out style loaf pan, line the pan itself with aluminum foil for an easier clean up
