Mussels in garlic lemon butter

Got some great mussels here. Not to be confused with muscles of course.

Mussels in garlic lemon butter

We use to hang out at an all you can eat happy hour where they served mussels. Naturally, we ate plenty of mussels when we were there.

Mussels in garlic lemon butter
There really is no other way to enjoy mussels than in some kind of butter sauce, in my opinion
  • 1 lb Mussels
  • 1/2 stick Butter
  • 2-3 Garlic Cloves Minced
  • 1 tablespoon as fresh as possible Lemon Juice
  • 1/3 cup Shallot or Vidalia Sweet Onion
  • to tase Optional seasonings such as parsley
Prepare your mussels by rinsing and scrubbing under cold water and removing the 'beards'. I have purchased then already prepared in the past which is a great way to save some time.Place your mussels in a Dutch over or large pot, cover and cook for 5 minutes on medium-high.Remove your pot from the stove and drain your mussels.Place the pot back on the stove and add your butter, garlic, and shallot/onion. Allow to melt, stirring as needed.Add your mussels and then lemon juice to the pot and continue to cook for another 3-4 minutes or until it boilsRemove from heat and spoon the melted butter from the pot over the mussels. Season to taste and serve.

  1. These sounds good but I don't eat much seafood. I think that at least they would smell good.
